The age of fast & Instant

A typical day at the office! by TAZ- Tech Accessory Zone owner, Guy Driver.  Our day starts at 10am and so we generally arrive at around 9:50.  Most days there is at least one person waiting at the door.  We barely get time to turn the light on and they are in asking for help.  "I cracked my screen" My son dropped my phone in the toilet" "it's stuck on the Apple logo, can you help"  and as usual we gracefully accept the daily challenges and proceed to take one phone at a time with promises to do all we can for them.  There are always some challenges, but we have a great success rate.  Screens, Charging ports, speakers, microphones, vibrator buttons, volume buttons, LCD displays, no problem.  Water damage, always a challenge but we have a 80% success rate.   it just takes time because you have to first get the device to power up then you have to work through the phone one step at a time to find and fix the faults.  This takes time, so we normally need the phone for 24 - 48 hours, minimum.  But hey we don't charge to give you an estimate, so nobodies out but us if we don't fix it.  So have some patience and trust us a little.  We will make it happen.  http://www.taztampa.com  or http://www.techaccressoryzone.com

The repair industry is currently very hot and of course everyone that's anyone is promising great prices and great service, forget that they are 16 years old working at their desk in the bedroom or a make shift bench in the garage!!!  Hey i am the first to respect free Enterprise, darn i even get the working in the garage part.  But sadly its these guys that don't run a professional set up that can cut prices and take all the short cuts and then ruin a perfectly professional industry.  The guys that take this seriously and are making a career out of this, taking on large overheads, opening up store fronts and taking responsibility for their actions, these guys are the ones that are been hurt.  There is always going to be that backstreet barber shop, auto mechanic, you name it there are out there and as i said before kudos's to them, i see nothing wrong and frankly if i could i would want to set up shop from home.  Save all the overheads and actually start making money.  But i know that there are just certain things that have to be done professionally if you want to do it right and having store front or office in a retail environment is one of them.  So guys, if you want to work from home, great, but lets make sure that we keep a good industry price and standard.  TAZ- Tech Accessory Zone is my little piece of action and i take what i do to heart.  Service is a very important part of my business and we take what we do very seriously.  So if you are looking for a full service cell phone repair center, then TAZ is your option www.techaccessoryzone.com   or www.taztampa.com  We are a Full Service Cell Phone Repair Center in Tampa specializing in Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Repairs.

TAZ- Tech Accessory Zone opened its doors in the late 4th quarter of 2009 with humble beginnings and a great determination to offer Tampa Bay a great repair service and the widest variety of iPhone, iPad and iPod accessories.  We always believed in offering great value for money and our repairs showed that in price and the high quality in workmanship.  As each year has progressed we have continued with the great value and tried to improve on turnaround time and making sure that when a customer brings a phone to be repaired that they know that it is our every intention to make sure we do everything humanly possible to not only get their device repaired , but done in a timely fashion.

Q & A with TAZ- Tech Accessory Zone's founder

What initially drove you to start TAZ?

Guy Driver - I started TAZ with a passion, i have been in retail all my working life and have a passion to make things happen.  I started TAZ because i wanted to have a retail store that offered the widest range of Apple iPhone Accessories and where people could touch feel and see the product.  I also saw the potential that the cellphone repair market was providing due to the vast increase of smart phone usage and the cost to replace the devices.

What do you attribute your success too?

Guy Driver - Simply one fact, Service, yes i know everyone says they have the best customer service.  I say one thing and that's that we take every transaction to heart.  It really stresses me out if we are having a problem with any device we are repairing because i take it so personally.  For me, when you choose TAZ you did so because you felt comfortable and confident and that's why i will do everything humanely possible to give you the best service possible.  My desire is to satisfy every customer that walks through our doors to do business with us. Sometimes that's difficult because electronics are not something you can always control.

How come you have not opened up more stores like your competitors??

Guy Driver - Well that's a great question.  I feel that until i can open up a second or third store, i need to have all my ducks in a row and must have the ability to give the same quality service at each location.  I think its imperative to be well prepared and insure that everything is done right.  Opening store after store is easy.  The difficult part is to do it right.  All i can say is that i will be opening more stores and that i have big plans for the future of TAZ.   I see my competitors opening up stores all the time around me, but i know where i am going and what i am planning, so it does not bother me.

Does the competition effect you?

Guy Driver - Competition is always good, i see a lot of great things my competition do and sometimes i am very impressed by there tactics.  Competition is healthy and i can only learn from them.  I only consider three companies here in Tampa as competitors.  The rest are just getting by.  As long as the competition is professional and ethical and keeps the standard, then i am all about good competition.

What is your next move?

Guy Driver - Well we do have a rather cool innovative plan that i hopefully will be getting off the ground within the next month.  I hope that this will change the game a little and a new way we do business.  So until then I'm all mum the word!

You repair all makes and models of Cell Phones, is it not better to specialize?

Guy Driver - Well we do, we specialize in repairing all Apple iPhone, iPad's, iPod's and Apple Mac'.  That is what we are specialists in, but we have competent techs that can fix everything and for that reason we can do all makes and models of cell phones.  Not everyone can do that, that's why they don't and we do.  I am very hesitant to just do repairs on anything.  So if we say we can repair it, then we will.

Numbers recently released point to just how close the U.S. is to having more smartphone than feature phone users: analysts say 49.7 percent of cell phone users currently own a smartphone, which a really big jump on what the figures were this time last year at 36 percent.

What’s increasingly clear regarding this growth is that it appears no other platform is proving to be a contender against Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android.
Currently, Android-based smartphones account for 48 percent of all smartphones owned in the U.S., while Apple’s different versions of the iPhone account for 32 percent. Both of those shares have grown: in September 2011, it is said that Android’s share was 40 percent and Apple’s 28 percent.

When it comes to the purchasing of smartphones, the power of Android and AppleiOS is even stronger. In the last three months, Android accounted for 48% of all handsets that were purchased, while Apple accounted for 43%.
This growth was at the expense of BlackBerry, now down to just 5% of handsets bought, with the rest of the other platforms — which includes Microsoft’s Windows Phone — accounting for 4% of  smartphones that are been bought.

Apple in my opinion lead the way regardless, when you take into account the fact that Android has so many more varieties and manufacturers pumping out devices what almost seems daily.   Just look at the fact that Motorola, Samsung, LG, HTC, Pantech, and of course others, all manufacture and back Android.  So of course you are going to have a much higher percentage of sales.  These manufacturers all have several models and then you look at Apple and say, "wow, only 3 active models at this current point, Wow is right.  No contest when you look at it like that. 

I still think Apple make the greatest phones and would not want to bother with Android if it was up to me.  It is not of course, so we have to play nice.
