iPhone Tops the Leader Board

Guess who moved Korean giant Samsung back into the number two spot for smartphone vendors? According to numbers released in the fourth quarter of 2011, Apple has moved back into the number one spot by a small margin. These numbers are according to research firm Strategy Analytics and IHS iSuppli.Samsung moved into the number one spot in the third quarter of last year as customers were impatiently waiting for the iPhone 4S. Global smartphone sales grew 54 percent annually to reach a record of 155 million units in the fourth quarter of 2011 according to Alex Spector, Associate Director at Strategy Analytics. Apple’s global smartphone shipments grew an astounding 128 percent annually to 37 million units across multiple countries. Samsung shipments were up 241 percent at 36.5 million. Talk about a close competition!Apple and Samsung are also involved in fierce patent litigation as Apple is trying to block Samsung devices in multiple markets. The numbers for Nokia cut in half from 33% in 2010 to 16% in 2011, probably because of it’s lacking touchscreen portfolio and it’s tiny presence in the U.S. market. Experts will be watching to see how Microsoft and Nokia partner in 2012 to expand the 4G LTE. Android didn’t fare so well either as the marketplace is becoming crowded with various licensees competing for a smaller customer base. Sony Ericsson shipped a lackluster 9 million phones in the 4th quarter indicating at 20% drop.

More news on iPhone performance - TAZ

The iPhone is an awesome daily tool, as far as video goes, it seems like most are definitely impressed by the 720p capture, though there are stability issues with the lens and the all-too-familiar "jellyvision" CMOS issues that tend to rear their head if you're not holding the phone very steady. Still, don't you think it's better than carrying around a Flip HD instead of just keeping this in our pocket. Everything that is shot looks crisp and mostly artifact-free, there seem to be no hiccups in the 30 FPS rate Apple claims, even in lower light. Adding iMovie to the mix for on-the-fly editing is a nice touch too!http://www.techaccessoryzone.com/html/home-a.html

TAZ has iPhone4 accessories galor!

TAZ likes to keep it's cell phone customers informed and adds links and reviews as often as we can to our cyber comms! The cameras on the new iPhone are going to be a topic of much debate, since it seems as though this has been an area where Apple has been slow to innovate. The 3GS only sported a three megapixel shooter with few bells and whistles (and no flash), and while it was fine for quick snaps, it wasn't an artist's tool by any means. Yay for Apple they finally seems to be listening to a public that's interested in leaving the point-and-shoot at home in favor of a phone with a capable camera, by adding a five megapixel shooter to the backside of the iPhone 4 and a VGA camera up front it seems like it's going to be a winner this time!http://www.techaccessoryzone.com/html/how-to-sync-your-iphone-e4.html
